His idea is now the new church labyrinth

17-year-old Zack Roncallo, a St. Stephens youth group member and Boy Scout, started his journey to an Eagle Scout badge with an idea - to build a meditative labyrinth at the church. Two years later, the labyrinth was completed on Saturday. The first meeting of the Labyrinth Guild was in spring 2015. Zack managed to raise money from 62 donors and it took many trips back and forth to the city permit office along with many meetings along the way.

So as of Saturday, Zack, along with his Boy Scout troop, built the labyrinth and fulfilled the commitment to his troupe, church, the Grove community and his Eagle Scout badge. He wanted to say thank you and spread the word that it will soon be open for walking, in March 2017 after the Art Show weekend.

He is up for nomination for the Silver Knight award.

Check out the labyrinth at the McFarlane Road side of St. Stephen's when you visit the Arts Festivals this weekend.

"This past Saturday me and my boy scout troop got together and finally laid down the pavers for the labyrinth thus completing my Eagle project,  however the entire project is not completed yet, phase two is still yet to come and I wish St. Stephens all the best of luck on phase two to make it even more beautiful with plants and landscaping!!

"Thank you, each and every one of the people who helped. For your hard work and support in helping me to complete my Eagle project,  I would have never been able to complete it without the help of all of the people, I am extremely grateful to everyone. Thank you Mayor Regalado, Commissioner Russell, Reverend Willie Allen-Faiella and the supervision and support of Mike Gory, New Beach Construction Partners who stepped in to complete the job as a General Contractor, leader and my new friend.  Over the two year journey Incredible support came from Humberto Casiego, 3C Construction Corp., Briley Architects, Curtis & Rogers Design Studio, the City of Miami District II Office, the members of the St. Stephens Labyrinth Guild and you, our community leaders and friends.

"Thank you all very much."

Wow. Can he be our next commissioner? Looks like he knows what he's doing.
